How to change your Windows Password
Changing your password from Home
STEP1: After logging into your Windows desktop, ensure you are connected to the Teach First domain by connecting to the VPN first. (Please note you only need to connect to vpn if you are working away from Teach First Offices also most laptops are now set with Auto VPN which connects to VPN straight after you log in to your laptop. You can check connection to VPN by checking if you can access the intranet page on intranet.teachfirst.org.uk)
(Also please note if your password has already expired and will not let you reset it, you can use this guide: How to reset a forgotten Windows password : IT Self Service System (teachfirst.org.uk)
or please raise a ticket with the service desk on support.teachfirst.org.uk and someone from the service desk will get back to you)
STEP 2: Once you’re on the Windows desktop and have connected to VPN, press and hold CTRL + ALT + DEL keys on your keyboard till you get a blue screen like below:
STEP 3: Select “Change a password” (previous picture).
STEP 4: When you are on the password change screen type in the old password at the “Old Password field” and enter your new password at the bottom 2 fields. After that click on the right arrow to confirm change.
(The Password policy has changed. Password complexity has been disabled so no need to enter any special characters or mixture of upper/lower case. The 90 days expiration for password has also been disabled. The minimum characters that is now required for a password is 14)
STEP 5: Your new password should now be successfully changed, and you should see a screen similar to below with “Your password has been changed” message. Click OK and login to your account using your new password.
