IT Access During Long Term Leave
There will be some changes to IT access for colleagues on long-term leave (e.g., parental leave, career breaks etc).
During your leave, your access to Microsoft Office applications will change as follows:
- You will still be able to access essential tools like Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel, but only through the web versions at office.com.
- Desktop versions of Microsoft 365 apps will not be available.
Storage updates:
-
OneDrive storage will be reduced to 1TB.
-
Exchange (Email) storage will be reduced to 50GB.
Based on current usage, this should not impact any users.
You may got office prompts about your license being deactivated soon like the one below. Please ignore as you will continue to be able to access your office apps and account via office.com. This prompt will only come up if you try to use any of the desktop office apps whilst you are on leave and your license has been switched over.

These changes allow us to save around £400 per month, ensuring we manage resources efficiently while continuing to support access for colleagues on leave. If you need to log in for a Keeping in Touch (KIT) day or occasional work tasks, please use office.com to access your email, files, and Teams calls.
If you experience any issues accessing your account when you return, please contact the IT Service Desk at https://support.teachfirst.org.uk/support/home.
Thank you for your understanding, and please feel free to reach out with any questions.
