Laptop care and responsibility
There are four main areas of which you need to be aware

Physical Care

Please be mindful that the laptop is fragile

Do not put stickers on the laptop

Do not eat or drink over your laptop

Always use the sleeve and rucksack provided

When traveling do not place your rucksack where it could get damaged e.g. in lower luggage compartment on train

If you do accidently drop liquid or damage your laptop please contact IT to get some advice and arrange a replacement

Do not leave your laptop unattended

Do not let anyone else apart from Teach First staff use your laptop
Virus and Malware

Your computer is scheduled to update virus definitions regularly and check your computer for viruses

Please allow this process to complete in order to make sure your computer is safe

If you suspect you may have a virus, please disconnect your computer from the Teach First network and contact IT support immediately
Things to look out for

Pop ups unrelated to the site you are browsing

Strange behaviour

‘You might have a virus!’
How to avoid

You must not go to inappropriate websites
-
Do not open email attachments unless they are trusted (Avoid Spam)
Windows Updates

Windows updates will download automatically to your computer

Often these are security updates and important to keep your computer and our network safe

Please allow for installation to complete when prompted (interrupting these updates may cause your laptop to be unresponsive and any data that isn't backed up may be lost)

RECOMMENDED – Please do a complete shutdown at the end of the day and restart laptop every morning
Installation of Software

Software installation is prohibited
