How to change document properties (tags) in SharePoint
1. For multiple
documents at once
i) If
you click on the Library tab and look at the Ribbon, the first button
(which is greyed out because you are currently in that format) is the Standard
List format.

ii) The
second button in is the Quick Edit Button. Clicking on this button
changes the view to a datasheet format. In this format it will still only show
the columns that are in the view that you have selected.

iii) When you are in this edit format view,
the datasheet acts just like a spreadsheet in as much as you can ‘fill down’.
e.g. if the Department was the same for the next four documents, then clicking
in the Department field for the 1st document will show the fill handle at the
bottom right of the field.

iv) When you hover over the fill handle, the
cursor will switch to a cross-hair + (just
like in Excel) and dragging the fill handle down three fields will fill that
same data into the Department field for the next 3 items.
2. For one document at a time
i) Navigate to the library and find the
file you need
ii) Click on the ellipsis for that file,
which displays the following dialog box:

iii) Click
again on the ellipsis in the dialog box and choose ‘Properties’

iv) Make the necessary changes in the
document properties window and click ‘save’
